The 27-year-old goalkeeper is expected to line up for his country on Sunday in an eagerly-anticipated European Qualifier against Belgium.

With Wales having made a flying start to their campaign, they will be hoping to pass an important test against a star-studded side tipped to top Group B.

Hennessey will be the man charged with the task of keeping Belgium out, and will take on that challenge with little domestic game time under his belt.

The former Wolverhampton Wanderers shot-stopper admits things have not progressed as planned for him at Palace since completing a switch in January.

He is, however, determined to prove his worth after being limited to two cup outings and 35 minutes of Premier League football this season.

Hennessey knows he must convince Neil Warnock that he deserves to dislodge first-choice Julian Speroni, with there a desire on his part to show that he can be a top-flight performer.

He said: “It’s not going the way I’d like at Palace, but I come away with Wales, put my head down and I’m getting game time.

“I’d like to think he (Warnock) is watching.”
