Chris Coleman's men claimed a point away from home against the Group B favourites to remain unbeaten in Euro 2016 qualification and Williams was delighted with the draw.
"One of the best performances I've seen at least in my time with Wales as a team," he told Sky Sports 5.
"Everyone really stuck to the cause. It wasn't too pretty in the first half but we dug in.
"To come here and get a point and a clean sheet is massive for us. It keeps our momentum in the group, we haven't lost yet.
"We wanted to win the game but we will definitely take a point."
Gareth Bale was kept largely in check going forward but made a vital stop on the line in the closing stages and was delighted with the battling spirit of his team-mates.
"To get any result was a fantastic performance from us," he said. "We'll take the point.
"We started a bit slow in the first half but the football we played in the second half we showed true courage, true character and to get a point is massive for us."
He added: "We put expectation on ourselves more than anyone and we know what we're capable of.
"It was great to get a point, we showed a good performance for the fans."
Great result. Ashley Williams proving he's a great defender once again, like a modern day Paul McGrath. I really like Hennessey as a keeper, he should be starting for a premier league club, makes a couple of world class saves every time he plays for Wales. Only slight disappointment against Belgium was Ramsey; hopefully he'll have a better day later on in the group stages. We need our players to stay fit but if they do we can qualify for the Euros. I was wrong about Chris Coleman - after a terrible start losing the first four games he's turned things around and has us well organised.- carrick4vangaal
