2013 Cadillac ATS

It wasn't easy, but we've pared the list of Autoweek Semifinalists: 2013 Best of the Best semifinalists down to just 10 worthy cars and trucks. Read more about the cars that made the cut below.

Be sure to check out the five truck finalists here, and discover the two 2013 Best of the Best winners in the Jan. 7, 2013 issue of Autoweek magazine.

A game changer for Cadillac, the ATS represents as close a contender the luxury benchmark BMW 3-series has seen from a domestic automaker—or, arguably, from any automaker.

Base: $33,990

As tested: $48,190

2013 Porsche 911

Another great argument for Most Significant Car of the Year, the Italian-bred Dart starts where the popular Neon left off seven years ago—and, thankfully, wholly erases any vestige of Caliber still left lingering on our collective automotive palate.

Base: $16,790

As tested: $25,065

2013 Subaru BRZ

The sports car by which all others are measured: When a new 911 comes along, the enthusiast world takes notice. It is bigger than the outgoing model, however, which gives us pause.

Base: $83,050

As tested: $100,690

2013 Porsche Boxster

This one is arguably the best affordable rear-drive lightweight sports car since the Mazda Miata bowed some 23 years ago. Big words, sure, but we challenge anyone to prove us wrong.

Base: $26,265

As tested: $28,265

Perhaps the best all-around sports car extant, the Boxster has always done everything superbly, and this all-new third-generation car only advances its case.

Base: $50,450

As tested: $85,410
