An amendment to the 2003 Communications Act outlawed several sex acts in video-on-demand online porn originating across the pond.
The new guidelines eliminate things like aggressive whipping, caning, spanking, and strangulation. Other acts have been banned, but some of those are too graphic to be mentioned here.
The British Board of Film Censors says they took the action to eliminate “potentially life-endangering” situations.
Fans of the fringe videos can still watch them, if they are made in another country. Many applaud the move but not Jerry Barnett with the anti-censorship group Sex and Censorship.
Barnett told Vice UK, “there appear to be no rational explanations for most of the R18 rules.”
Barnett continued, “they’re simply a set of moral judgments designed by people who have struggled endlessly to stop the British people from watching pornography.”
